What System is Right for Me?

LKC offers two base systems the UTAS and the EPIC-4000. With these extremely versatile systems, we can customize a product to your specific need.

While both systems perform similar functions, they contain variations to meet a wide range of customer requirements..

Hardware

The UTAS is LKC's most comprehensive system and includes four recording channels. The UTAS has two ganzfeld options, Sunburst for small animals and human/primate use, and BigShot for the larger animals such as cats, dogs and pigs. The Sunburst ganzfeld is the world's brightest and most capable color LED ganzfeld with: standard ISCEV protocols, on/off response, double flash, S-Cone, Photopic Negative, and Scotopic Threshold Response ERGs. Sunburst and BigShot have a dark adaptometry option. The UTAS system also features the UBA-4204 amplifier insuring low noise recording in any environment with fiber optic connection and no more ground electrode needed.

The EPIC-4000 is LKC's compact, modular system computer. It has two recording channels and three fully-automated flash intensities (other intensities achievable by use of neutral-density filters). The EPIC-400 ganzfeld is built to perform white flashes only (color flashes and backgrounds can be achieved by inserting color filters) Being easily tailored to include precisely the hardware and software desired, it is capable of meeting the needs of most customers in a normal clinical setting.

Either system can be enhanced by the addition of beneficial items such as a color or white-only mini-Ganzfeld stimulator (CMGS-1 or MGS-2). They also can both run with using a notebook or desktop computer.

Software

The standard software package for either system includes electroretinogram (ERG), electro-oculogram (EOG), and visual evoked potential (VEP) testing protocols, which meet the International Society for the Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision's (ISCEV) standard, as well as additional built-in and user-defined protocols for further convenience. In addition to the standard software the system can be upgraded to the Compliance Pack version which allows the user to be 21 CFR 11 compliant (GLP/GCP). Either system can incorporate multi-focal ERG/VEP (MFERG/MFVEP) software. The UTAS and EPIC-4000 can also be obtained as a "stand-alone" system, with MFERG/MFVEP software only.

The UTAS has several software options in addition to those of the EPIC-4000, such as storing individual sweeps from an averaged set and the ability to view and print up to ten waveforms simultaneously versus five with the EPIC-4000.
